history
Grosvenor commenced business in 1994 with a contract to support the City of Melbourne’s outsourcing business strategy. We supported 18 in-house teams seeking to bid for the provision of key services. Key services in which we were involved included:
- Melbourne Community Care, reengineering the delivery and business processes of Home and Community Care Services with efficiency gains of 30%
- Infrastructure maintenance services and cleaning services, reengineering and business processes development for what became CityWide Service Solutions, now a $100m pa business fully owned by the City of Melbourne
Our growing reputation enabled us to leverage our experience and expertise to win contracts other local government entities. In the late 1990’s we worked on the Defence Commercial Support Program; in 1997, we reviewed service delivery and reengineered business processes for Randwick Logistics Company. Grosvenor has continued to expand its Defence experience to the extent that the Department of Defence is now a key client.
Also in 1997 we were engaged by City of Sydney to reengineer the delivery of a range of frontline services such as community services, corporate services and infrastructure support service. One example includes street sweeping services, in which we realised efficiency gains in excess of 35% with no deterioration in service standards.
As the trend to supporting in-house teams diminished, Grosvenor was able to refine its services to support some of the most complex procurement projects in the public and private sector. These services further evolved into business improvement and benchmarking activities.
In 1997 a key contact in City of Melbourne, Deputy CEO Peter Donald, moved to the ANZ Banking Group and asked Grosvenor to prepare a specification for the delivery of property management services to the Bank's global property portfolio. The task was completed within the required four-week term, and this contract began our corporate real estate practice.
Over the last 10 years we have seen our client base grow to include a list of blue chip companies in the private sector, and the larger more complex departments of the public sector.
There are many examples of our procurement expertise, and experience in developing innovative strategies to deal with prevailing issues.
For example, Grosvenor was retained by Powercor Services to strengthen the viability of their local service agents in western Victoria who were responsible for managing its distributed infrastructure. We engaged with the stakeholders, and developed new service agreements that included performance metrics in the context of community obligations, and training and assistance for rural and regional service units in implementing new performance arrangements.
Our reputation and experience in procurement was recognised by the procurement sector’s professional association, the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Australia (CIPSA), when we were engaged to deliver courses in procurement and contract management as part of their 2007, 2008 and 2009 Open Training Program in Australia and New Zealand.
